FAQ
Yes! RiderReady is completely free. Browsing equipment, comparing specs, creating lists, reading reviews, and listing your gear all cost nothing. Some features like AI Search and submitting reviews require a free account. There are no paywalls or premium tiers — every feature is available to every user.
Coming soon: Backstage — a premium layer with exclusive tools for touring professionals. Details on pricing and access are still being finalized.
No — RiderReady covers the full production chain. Our equipment database spans lighting fixtures, audio gear (loudspeakers, consoles, microphones, wireless systems, amplifiers, signal processors), video (LED processors, projectors, media servers), staging and rigging (truss, stage decking, chain hoists, ground supports, roof systems), backline (guitars, keyboards, drums, DJ equipment, orchestral instruments), site power (generators, transformers, power distribution, battery storage), and special effects (atmospherics, cryo, pyro, confetti). We started with lighting because that's where our founding community lives, but RiderReady is built for every department on the production.
RiderReady is free because we're building this with the industry, not just for it. Our contributors help grow and verify the database, and in return everyone benefits.
We're gathering feedback from the people who will actually use this every day — production managers, lighting techs, crew chiefs, production companies, rental houses, and manufacturers. Your input directly shapes what RiderReady becomes.
The honest answer? We believe the live production industry deserves better tools, and that access to accurate equipment data shouldn't be gatekept behind a paywall. We're a small team of touring professionals who got tired of digging through outdated spec sheets and PDFs. We're confident RiderReady will fundamentally change how the live events industry plans and builds productions — but to get there, we need real users telling us what works, what doesn't, and what's missing.
This is your chance to influence the tool before it's locked in. Use it, break it, tell us what you need. Revenue will come later through optional premium services, not by locking down the core platform.
There are several ways to get involved:
Use the "Report Issue" button on any equipment detail page to flag incorrect information. You can also submit edits directly — any registered user can propose changes, which go through editorial review before being applied.
Yes, you can export equipment comparisons to CSV and download GDTF files when available. Bulk data scraping is not permitted. If you need a specific query, please email support.
Go to your Profile page and look for the account deletion option in settings. Your personal data will be removed within 30 days. Reviews may be anonymized rather than deleted.
