Date: February 4, 2026
├──🔗 SoftPatch v0.1.0

View Full SoftPatch Changelog for complete feature details.
├──👤 Profile & Availability

Simpler Work Experience - Year required, month optional. Matches the familiar LinkedIn pattern.

commit
0382-002
v0.3.8.2
Date: January 24, 2026
├──📎 GDTF Attachment Indicator
See What's Already Attached - When editing a fixture submission, the GDTF Import tool now shows if a GDTF file is already attached. You'll see "Attached: [filename]" with a green checkmark, and the button changes to "Replace .gdtf" instead of "Drop or Select .gdtf". No more guessing whether the original submission included a GDTF!
├──✏️ Console Editor Fix
Edit Lighting Consoles - Contributors can now edit existing lighting console entries. The edit button on console detail pages now works correctly, opening the same form used for fixtures but configured for console data.
├──🎛️ Console Hardware Sets
Detailed Fader, Encoder & Button Tracking - The lighting console editor now lets you define multiple hardware banks with detailed specifications:
Fader Sets - Define each fader bank with:
Purpose: Executor, submaster, grand master, wing/extension
Motorized: Yes/No
Throw type: Short (~30mm), standard (~60mm), long (~100mm), touch strip, or capacitive (MQ500M-style touch-sensitive)
Backlight: None, single color, RGB, or per-fader RGB (like MA)
Encoder Sets - Clarify what "rotary encoders" means by specifying:
Purpose: Programming wheels (the big ones), executor knobs (small ones above playbacks), parameter control, or attribute
Feel: Continuous (smooth) or detented (notched)
Push-to-select capability
LED ring type: None, single color, RGB, or segmented
Button Sets - Categorize button groups:
Type: Executor (playback buttons), programming (Select/Clear/Store), function keys (F1-F12), navigation (arrows/enter), or other
Backlight type
Why? A contributor pointed out that "rotary encoders" is ambiguous—some LDs count the small knobs above executors, others mean the programming wheels. And many LDs care about backlit faders (spoiled by MA!). This update lets you capture the nuance.
├──🔌 I/O & Integration Tracking
New I/O Section - Track the connections and integrations that matter:
Timecode Input - Select from SMPTE LTC, MIDI Timecode, Art-Net Timecode, sACN Timecode, Internal Clock—or add your own custom option.
Visualizer Integration - Track which 3D visualizers the console supports: Augment3d, WYSIWYG, Capture, MA 3D, Vectorworks, Depence, L8, and more. Custom visualizers can be added too.
DMX Outputs - Separate fields for 5-pin and 3-pin connector counts (because some of us still care about proper 5-pin!).
Audio/SMPTE Input - What audio input type does the console have? Line In, XLR, RCA, or BNC for SMPTE.
├──✨ Custom Features
Add Your Own Features - The predefined feature toggles don't cover everything. Now you can add custom features like "Dual Redundant PSU", "Theatre Mode", "SMPTE Lock", or anything else that makes a console unique.
Custom Values in Dropdowns - All feature category dropdowns (File Format Support, Networking, Integration, Programming, Hardware) now let you add custom values. Found a feature we don't have listed? Type it in and add it.
├──💾 Software Details
Update Method - How does the console get software updates? USB, Network, both, Cloud, or Factory Only.
Native Show Format - What file extension does the console use? Now you can specify .show, .esf3d, .ma3, or whatever format the desk saves.
├──🔍 Expanded Console Filters
Find Your Perfect Console Faster - The lighting console list page now has comprehensive filters to match all the new hardware data:
Hardware Filters - Filter by playback faders, rotary encoders, total buttons, internal displays, and external display outputs. Finally find consoles with "at least 30 playback faders" or "4+ internal screens".
I/O & Ports - New section lets you filter by DMX output counts (5-pin and 3-pin separately!), ethernet ports, USB ports, timecode input types, audio input, and built-in network switch.
Software - Filter by cue capacity, custom fixture editor support, and tracking backup capability.
Custom Features - Search by user-defined features. Looking for consoles with "Theatre Mode" or "Dual Redundant PSU"? If someone tagged it, you can filter by it.
├──🍎 Safari Compatibility Fix
Consistent Styling Across Browsers - Fixed an issue where Safari was applying its native system styling to dropdowns and form elements, making them look out of place with the dark theme. Dropdowns, buttons, and inputs now display consistently whether you're on Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or any other browser.

├──📱 Mobile Debug Console Fix
Full-Screen Terminal on Mobile - The debug console now opens in full-screen mode on mobile devices, making it easy to use and close. The close button is larger for touch targets, pinch-to-zoom is disabled, and text won't resize when rotating your phone.

├──📦 Current Fixtures Only for Free Users
Focus on What's Available - Free (LOCAL) users now see only current, in-production fixtures. Discontinued fixtures are reserved for WORKING and AAA tier members who need access to legacy equipment data.
Why? - This keeps the free experience focused on gear you can actually buy today, while premium tiers unlock our complete historical archive.
├──🔓 Unlock AAA Features for Free
Take the Survey, Get Full AAA Tier - Want to try our premium features? Complete the "Help Build RiderReady" survey and your account is upgraded to full AAA tier for 7 days—completely free!
What's Included in AAA:
Vendor Inventory Filters - Search fixtures by verified vendor inventory and community reports
Saved Filter Presets - Save your favorite filter combinations for quick access
More AAA features coming soon!
How to Unlock:
Click any locked AAA feature to see your options
Choose "Take our Survey" to get 7 days free
Or become a Contributor for beta access

Not Logged In? - You'll be redirected to sign in first, then brought right back to where you were.
Already a Contributor? You already have full AAA access during beta—no action needed!
├──📝 Survey Quality Improvements
Meaningful Feedback Required - We've updated our survey to ensure every response helps us build a better platform. All personas now require thoughtful text input:
General Feedback - Share at least 50 characters of feedback or ideas
Potential Contributors - Tell us about your equipment knowledge and motivation
Developers - Describe your tech stack and feature ideas
Vendors - Explain your pain points with equipment data
Why the Change? - We're offering valuable AAA access in exchange for survey responses. These requirements ensure we receive actionable feedback that actually helps shape RiderReady's future.
├──🔗 SoftPatch Preview
Locate Tab Now Requires Working Pass - The Locate tab on fixture detail pages shows where to find gear near you. This SoftPatch feature is part of the Working Pass tier. If you don't have Working Pass yet, you'll see a blue lock icon on the tab linking to membership options.
What's Coming with Working Pass:
SoftPatch Equipment Sharing - List your gear and studio space (location obscured for safety)
Find Gear Nearby - See who has the equipment you need in your area
Community Connections - Connect directly with other working pros
Vendor Directory Preview - When viewing the AAA-locked Vendor Directory, you'll now see a preview of SoftPatch equipment sharing coming with Working Pass. Two great ways to find gear—SoftPatch for peer connections, Vendor Directory for rental houses.
├──📋 Expanded Membership Benefits
See What You Get - The membership tier cards on the homepage now show expanded feature lists so you can see exactly what's included in each tier. LOCAL, WORKING, and AAA tiers all display their full benefits at a glance.
├──🎨 Sidebar Styling Refresh
Consistent Design Language - The homepage sidebar header now matches the MACROS section styling with bracketed text [ SIDEBAR ] and matching accent colors.
├──✨ AAA Premium Experience
Luxurious Styling for AAA Members - AAA members now enjoy a premium visual experience throughout the app with animated gold accents and shimmery effects.
What AAA Members See:
Gold Toolbar Border - The main toolbar features an animated gold shimmer that flows across the border
Gold Search Bar - The search bar glows with a warm gold outline that intensifies on focus
Gold Icons - Notification bell and mail icons display a subtle gold glow
Gold Version Badge - The version number shimmers with animated gold text
Premium User Card - Your account button shows a dark premium gradient with gold border, glowing avatar ring, and shimmering username
Tier-Based Mode Display - The status bar now shows your membership tier: "AAA", "WORKING PASS", or "LOCAL" in the MODE indicator. Role-based colors remain for other elements.
Who Gets the Premium Look? - The gold styling is now exclusive to actual AAA tier members. While contributors and staff still have full AAA feature access during beta, the premium visual styling is reserved for paying AAA subscribers. This helps distinguish our supporting members.
├──>_ Debug Console for Everyone
CLI Now Available to All Users - The debug console is no longer limited to contributors. Any logged-in user can open it by pressing Ctrl+\ or clicking the new >_` icon in the status bar.
What's in the Console:

See Your Tier Progress - The debug sidebar's Stats tab now shows visual progress bars for earning your membership tier through contributions:
Working Pass - Progress toward 1,000 monthly XP
AAA All Access - Progress toward 5,000 monthly XP
Bars fill up as you earn XP and turn green when you've hit the threshold!
├──🎯 Earn Your Membership Through Contributions

1,000 XP - Claim Working Pass for 30 days
5,000 XP - Claim AAA All Access for 30 days
How It Works:
Earn XP by contributing gear (fixtures, consoles, etc.), reviews, and other data
Track your progress in the debug sidebar Stats tab
When you hit the threshold, claim your reward
Your XP period resets after claiming so you can start earning again

├──⚡ XP for All Gear Types
Earn XP for Every Contribution - Contributors now earn XP for all gear types, not just fixtures. Add a lighting console? Get XP. Edit console specs? Get XP. The XP Guide now shows a unified "GEAR" category with all equipment types you can contribute.
What Earns XP:
Add a new fixture (10-100 XP based on quality rating)
Edit an existing fixture (10-100 XP based on quality rating)
Add a new lighting console (10-100 XP based on quality rating)
Edit an existing lighting console (10-100 XP based on quality rating)
More gear types coming soon!
Activity Feed Updated - The live activity feed now shows lighting console contributions alongside fixtures, so you can see all the great work our contributors are doing across the platform.
├──📍 Improved Location Privacy

Neighborhood - Now covers ~5km radius (was 2km)
City - Now covers ~25km metro area (was 10km)
Region - Now covers ~250km broad area (was 50km)
Your exact location is never shown—only the general area based on your privacy setting. The larger circles make it even harder to pinpoint where you are.
Location Settings Preserved - Changing your privacy level no longer requires re-entering your address. Your coordinates and location data are now properly preserved when you adjust privacy settings.

├──📎 Document Management for Consoles
Attach Files & Links - Lighting consoles now have the same document management system as fixtures. Upload PDFs, link to manufacturer pages, or attach firmware downloads—all organized by category.
Console Document Categories:
Manual - User manuals and quick start guides
Firmware - Firmware update files and release notes
Software - Software downloads and plugins
Videos - Training videos and tutorials
Manufacturer Page - Links to official product pages
Datasheet - Technical specification sheets
Brochure - Marketing materials and brochures
Shared Components - Both fixtures and consoles now use the same document manager. Any improvements we make to document handling will apply to all gear types automatically.
├──🎛️ Lighting Consoles Filter Overhaul
Filters Now Match Fixtures - The lighting consoles browse page filter sidebar has been completely redesigned to match the fixtures page. All filters now use dropdown menus instead of inline checkbox groups, with the same bordered sections and collapsible panels you know from fixtures.
New Filter Organization:
Classification - Family, Class, and Manufacturer dropdowns
Control & DMX - Protocols and Universe count filters
Hardware - Fader count range
Power & Physical - Power draw (W) and Weight (kg) range filters
Connectivity - Network protocol selection
Networking - Software platform dropdown
Integration - Visualizer integrations multi-select
What's Improved:
Collapsible sections with dark headers to match fixtures page styling
Badge counts showing how many filters are active in each section
Min/max range inputs for numeric fields with unit indicators
New filters for Manufacturer, Software Platform, Visualizers, Power Draw, and Weight
├──🎨 Improved Form Controls
Chip-Style Selection - Protocol selection fields now use a visual chip/tag interface instead of dropdowns. Click chips to toggle them on or off—selected items highlight in your accent color. This applies to Communication Protocols, Power Connectors, and Wireless DMX Types on the fixture add/edit forms.
Add New Protocol - Can't find a protocol in the list? Click "Add New Protocol" below the protocol chips on both fixture and lighting console forms. Your new protocol gets saved to the database and becomes available for everyone.
├──⭐ Improved Review Experience
Softer Rating Blocks - The 1-10 rating scale in fixture and GDTF reviews now features a softer, more refined design. Rounded corners, subtle spacing between numbers, and a gentle glow on your selected value make rating feel smoother.
Smart Pros & Cons Suggestions - When writing a review, you'll now see two types of suggestions:
Common Tags - Curated tags that apply to all fixtures (or all GDTF files). Things like "Quiet operation," "Bright output," or "Noisy fans."
Item-Specific Tags - Tags other reviewers have used for this specific fixture or GDTF file.
Click any suggestion to add it instantly. Already-added tags are filtered out automatically so you won't see duplicates.
Consistent Across Reviews - Whether you're reviewing a fixture or rating a GDTF file, the experience is now unified. Same input styles, same suggestion system, same clean design.
├──📋 Request Equipment (Formerly Request Fixture)
Now Supports Multiple Gear Types - The "Request Fixture" button has been upgraded to "Request Equipment" and now supports requesting any type of gear in our growing database.
What's New:
Equipment Type Selector - Choose between Fixture or Lighting Console when submitting a request
Dynamic Labels - The form adapts its labels and placeholders based on your selection
Type-Aware Notifications - Contributors see which type of equipment each request is for
Discord Updates - Request notifications now show the equipment type with appropriate icons
How It Works:
1. Click "Request Equipment" from your homepage macro grid
2. Select the equipment type (Fixture or Lighting Console)
3. Enter the name, manufacturer, and optional details
4. Submit—contributors will see your request in their dashboard
For Contributors - The Equipment Requests widget in your sidebar now displays the equipment type for each pending request, making it easy to see what's needed at a glance.
├──🎨 Industry Focus Badges Match Department Colors
Unified Color System - Industry focus badges (like "Lighting Director" or "Audio Engineer") now use the same synesthesia color palette as department badges throughout the site.
What Changed:
Lighting focuses now display hot pink with cyan border (matching the Lighting department)
Audio focuses show deep blue with orange border (matching Audio department)
Video focuses use purple with neon green border (matching Video department)
Rigging focuses display silver steel tones
All industry focus badges now have consistent 2-color styling across the site
├──📸 Expanded Fixture Share Cards
More Details on Instagram Shares - The fixture share card (used for Instagram and social media sharing) now includes more technical details from the sidebar.
Now Showing:
8 Spec Cards - Power, Weight, Lumens, Beam Angle, Color Temp, CRI, IP Rating, and Dimensions
Protocols Row - Shows up to 3 communication protocols as cyan badges
Document Count - Displays how many docs/links are available for the fixture
4 Community Stats - Locations, Year Introduced, Favorites, and Views
The share card automatically pulls data from light sources and measurements when available.
Consistent Card Sizes - All stat cards in the share image are now the same size. Technical specs and community stats use identical card dimensions and fonts for a clean, unified look.
├──⭐ Smarter Review Prompts
They Disappear After 3 Reviews - The "Used This Fixture?" modal that appears on fixture pages now tracks how many reviews you've submitted. Once you've left 3 reviews, the modal stops appearing entirely—no more dismissing it on every page.
Countdown Message - While you're building up your review count, the modal shows a helpful message: "Leave X more reviews and this prompt disappears forever!" This lets you know exactly how close you are to permanent dismissal.
Per-Fixture Memory - Check "Don't show this again for this fixture" to dismiss the modal for that specific fixture. The modal remembers your choice and won't bother you about fixtures you've already decided to skip.
├──🗺️ SoftPatch Preview
Coming Soon - A new "SoftPatch" section now appears in the fixture filter sidebar, previewing an upcoming feature for sharing gear.
What's Coming: Put your gear on the map and connect with other users in your area. List your personal gear or studio space for others to find.
Working Pass Required - A Working pass membership will be required to list personal gear or studio space on the SoftPatch. The preview section uses contributor blue styling and includes a map pin icon hinting at the location-based features to come.
├──🔧 Changes
Working Pass Pricing Updated - Working Pass membership is now $8/month (previously $5/month). Annual pricing is $77/year with 20% savings—same great discount, adjusted to match the new monthly rate.
AAA Tier Now Earnable with XP - Active contributors can now earn AAA All Access membership by maintaining 5,000 XP per month. The monthly XP tracker in your sidebar now shows dual progress bars:
Working Pass - 1,000 XP/month (cyan progress bar)
AAA All Access - 5,000 XP/month (yellow progress bar)
When you hit a target, the bar turns green with a checkmark. Check the Membership page for full details on earning tiers through contributions.
Toolbar Navigation Updated - The Lightbulb icon in the toolbar is now a Grid icon and links to the new Gear hub (/gear) instead of going directly to Fixtures. From the Gear page, you can access any equipment database.
Console Sidebar Matches Fixtures - The lighting console edit sidebar now works exactly like the fixtures sidebar. Links appear in the Documents section only when they exist as documents—no more separate Quick Links section with URL inputs.
Manufacturer Dashboard Upgraded - If you're a manufacturer rep, your dashboard now has the same sidebar experience as other roles. Navigate between Profile, Locations, and Products using the sidebar instead of internal tabs.
Top Favorites Hidden by Default - The Top Favorites widget no longer appears by default. You can enable it anytime through the sidebar settings panel.
Survey Stays Put - For contributors and regular users, the Survey widget is permanent and can't be hidden—we still want your feedback!
├──🏭 Admin Manufacturer Management
Full Manufacturer Control - Admins now have a dedicated Manufacturers page in the admin dashboard, matching the functionality of the existing Vendors page. Manage all manufacturers from one place with three organized tabs.
What's Included:
All Manufacturers Tab - Sortable table view with filters for claimed status, subscription tier, and company type. Search by name, view fixture counts, and take quick actions.
Applications Tab - Review new manufacturer registration requests. Approve to create the manufacturer and assign the rep, or reject with an optional reason.
Claims Tab - Handle requests from users wanting to represent existing manufacturers. View the manufacturer profile before approving or rejecting.
Quick Actions Menu - Click "Actions" on any manufacturer row to view their profile, edit details, toggle claimed status, or delete (only if no fixtures are associated).
Streamlined Navigation - Manufacturers moved from the Applications submenu to a top-level admin nav item for easier access.
├──🎯 Homepage Database Pools
Consoles Tab Added - The Lighting pool card on the homepage now shows a fourth tab for Lighting Consoles. Click directly into Fixtures, Consoles, Manufacturers, or Vendors without expanding the pool first. Each tab displays its count with color-coded icons.
Improved Visibility - Text in the database pools grid is now easier to read. Shortcut letters, descriptions, and counts have been lightened from dark gray to a more visible shade.
Consistent Icon Colors - Each data type has its own color: Fixtures (yellow), Consoles (cyan), Manufacturers (purple), Vendors (red). These colors now appear consistently throughout the app, including the macro panel and navigation.
├──⚡ Power Mode for Editors
Editor-Only Filter Toolkit - Editors (role level 3+) now have access to Power Mode—a special filtering system designed for managing database quality. When enabled, you get advanced filter capabilities that help identify and fix incomplete data.
How to Use:
1. Navigate to the Fixtures page
2. Look for the "Power Mode" section at the top of the filter sidebar (emerald/green styling)
3. Toggle it ON to reveal the advanced filters
Include/Exclude Toggle - Every multi-select filter gains an "is/is not" toggle. Click the = button next to any filter to switch to exclude mode (). This lets you filter OUT selected values—for example, show all fixtures EXCEPT those from certain manufacturers.
Missing Data Finder - A new dropdown lets you find fixtures with incomplete information. Select any combination of:
Missing Image, Missing Manual, Missing GDTF, Missing Video
Missing Weight, Missing Dimensions, Missing DMX Info, Missing Product URL
Missing Release Year, Missing Power Draw, Missing Light Source, Missing Photometric Data, Missing IP Rating
Selecting multiple options uses OR logic—you'll see fixtures missing ANY of the selected fields.
Verified Status Filter - Filter by whether fixtures are verified (Yes/No/All). Useful for quality audits and finding entries that need review.
Why Emerald? - Power Mode uses emerald/green accents to match the Editor role color scheme established in the dashboard theming update.
├──🏢 Enhanced Vendor Profiles
More Business Details - Vendor profiles now capture richer information about each company. Whether you're looking for a rental house in your region or a full-service production company, you can now filter and browse with more precision.
New Vendor Filters:
Company Size - Solo Operator, Small Business, Mid-Market, or Enterprise
Company Type - Rental House, Production Company, AV Integrator, Dealer, or Reseller
Service Regions - Local, Regional, National, or International coverage
Service Types - Dry Hire, Wet Hire, Full Service, or Cross-Rental
Updated Vendor Form - Contributors and editors can now add company size, founding year, business types, service coverage, and social media links when creating or editing vendors.
Vendor Detail Pages - View the new Company Info and Service Info sections in the vendor sidebar. Social media links display with brand-colored icons (LinkedIn blue, Instagram pink, Facebook blue, YouTube red).
├──⭐ Recent Reviews Page
All-New Reviews Feed - The /reviews page has been completely redesigned. Each review now displays as a horizontal card with the fixture thumbnail on the left, your rating prominently displayed on the right, and the reviewer's avatar and username below.
At a Glance:
Fixture Thumbnail - See what fixture was reviewed without clicking
Color-Coded Ratings - Green for excellent (8+), yellow for good (5-7), red for needs improvement (<5)
User Avatars - Reviewer photos or initials displayed in circular badges
Relative Timestamps - "Just now", "2h ago", "3d ago" for quick context
Click to View - Each card links directly to the fixture's Performance tab
├──👤 Profile Settings Updates
Industry Focus - "Specialty Badge" has been renamed to "Industry Focus" to better describe what it represents—your primary area of expertise in the industry. The "Pick Specialty" button is now "Pick Industry Focus".
Username Taken? No Problem - When you try to save a username that's already taken, you'll now see a clear, friendly error message: "This username is already taken. Please choose a different one." No more confusing database errors.
├──🐛 Bug Fixes
Review Submissions Now Save All Ratings - Fixed an issue where submitting a review only saved a few of your ratings. All 27 rating dimensions now save correctly when you submit a review.
Reviews Display Your Name Properly - Fixed reviews incorrectly showing as "Anonymous" even when you didn't check the anonymous box. Your username (or first/last name if no username set) now displays correctly on your reviews.
Gear Reviews Widget Improved - The Gear Reviews sidebar widget now shows numeric ratings with color coding (green for 8+, yellow for 5-7, red for under 5) instead of star icons. Updated styling to blue accents for consistency.
Sidebar Widget Dismiss Button - All sidebar widgets now have an X button in the header for quick dismissal. Permanent widgets like Survey show a lock icon and cannot be hidden.
Contributors Can Create Manufacturers - Fixed an issue preventing contributors from creating new manufacturers when adding fixtures or lighting consoles. The "Create Manufacturer" button now works as expected.
Lighting Console Saves Work - Fixed an issue where saving a new lighting console would fail silently. Database permissions have been corrected.
Year Introduced Quick Lookup Improved - The search button for looking up release years is now more visible—it appears right next to the "Year Introduced" label with clear "Quick Lookup" text. Hover over it to see what information is needed before the search will work.
Macro Buttons Respect Permissions - Fixed an issue where "Add" buttons could appear in the macro bar for users who no longer have permission to add content. If your account role changes, your macro buttons now automatically update to show only the actions you're allowed to perform.
My Profile Goes to Settings - The "My Profile" macro button now takes you directly to your profile settings page instead of your public profile. Faster access to update your info, avatar, and preferences.
Empty Macro Slots Are Clickable - Unused macro slots now show a yellow dashed outline with a + icon. Click any empty slot to open the customization modal and add a new macro. The second row only appears when you have macros assigned there—no more empty space.
Profile Photo Upload Made Obvious - Added a camera icon badge to your avatar on the profile settings page. The little camera in the corner makes it clear you can click to upload or change your photo.
├──➕ Add Manufacturer While Adding Gear
Quick Manufacturer Creation - Can't find the manufacturer in the dropdown when adding a fixture or lighting console? No problem! Click "Add New Manufacturer" below the dropdown to create one on the spot. The new manufacturer is automatically selected and ready to go.
Department & Subcategory Selection - When creating a new manufacturer, you can now select which departments they operate in (Lighting, Audio, Video, Rigging, etc.) and their specific product subcategories (Moving Lights, LED Fixtures, Control & Consoles, etc.). The lighting department is pre-selected when adding from fixture or console forms.
├──🎨 Improved Import Tools
Better Visibility - The AI Extract and GDTF Import tools on the fixture and console add forms are now easier to see and use. Borders are brighter, placeholder text is more readable, and the overall styling is more polished.
Unified Quick Actions - The "Fulfill a Request?" and "New to Contributing?" cards on the fixture add form now sit side-by-side in a clean row. On mobile, they stack neatly. Both cards share the same styling for a cohesive look.
├──🎛️ Lighting Console Cards Redesigned
Matching the Fixtures Experience - Console cards on the browse page now look exactly like fixture cards. Same square image with white background, same layout with name at the top, same clickable manufacturer badge, and the same spec list format.
What's Changed:
Square Image - Product images now fill a square area with white background for a clean, uniform look
Title First - Console name appears prominently at the top in your accent color
Clickable Manufacturer - The manufacturer badge now takes you to their profile page
Specs Format - Family, Platform, Universes, and Weight displayed as label:value rows
├──📋 List View for Lighting Consoles
Your Choice of Views - The lighting consoles page now supports both grid and list views, just like fixtures. Click the list icon in the toolbar to switch to a compact table layout perfect for scanning lots of consoles quickly.
List View Features:
Resizable Columns - Drag column edges to adjust widths. Your preferences are saved automatically.
Draggable Columns - Reorder columns by dragging them left or right

Add to Compare (C) - Add the console to your comparison list
Edit Console (E) - Open the edit form (contributors only)
View Manufacturer (M) - Go to the manufacturer's profile

When multiple consoles are selected, bulk actions appear in the menu.
├──🎚️ Visual Filter Sliders
Drag to Filter - The range filters in the lighting consoles sidebar now feature visual sliders with draggable handles, matching the fixtures page. Drag the min and max handles to set your range, or type values directly in the input fields.
Slider Filters:
DMX Universes - 1 to 256 universes
Total Faders - 0 to 100 faders
Power Draw - 0 to 1,500 watts
Weight - 0 to 100 kg
The highlighted track between handles shows your selected range at a glance.
├──🏆 Earn Your Membership Through XP
Contribute to Unlock - You can now earn membership tier access through your monthly contributions instead of paying. Hit the XP targets and unlock features for free:
Working Pass - Earn 1,000 XP in a rolling 30-day period
AAA All Access - Earn 5,000 XP in a rolling 30-day period
Your XP-based access is calculated automatically and works alongside paid subscriptions.
├──💀 Freeloaders Wall of Shame
Negative XP? You're on the List - The Contributors page now has a "Freeloaders" tab showing users who've gone into XP debt. There are very few ways to go negative, but if you find one... you'll end up on the Wall of Shame with skull styling and a red theme.
Good News - If everyone's contributing, you'll see a trophy celebrating that no freeloaders exist!
├──🌗 Light Mode Improvements
Better Theme Support - Light mode now looks much better across the community pages (Contributors, Members, Staff). We've replaced hardcoded dark colors with proper theme-aware styling throughout.
What's Fixed:
HUD frames now use accent-colored borders instead of gray
Tickers have darker backgrounds that work in both themes
Cards, inputs, and buttons all respond correctly to theme changes
Homepage logo switches between light and dark versions
├──🎨 Homepage Logo Theme Switching
Automatic Logo Switching - The homepage logo now automatically uses the appropriate version for your theme. Dark mode shows the standard logo, light mode shows the light-optimized version.

├──✨ New Feature
Usernames Are Here - Your display name has been replaced with a unique username. Usernames can contain letters, numbers, and underscores (3-30 characters). This lays the groundwork for @mentions coming soon—tag other contributors in comments and discussions.
Your existing display name was automatically converted: spaces became underscores and special characters were removed. If your username ended up looking weird, you can update it in your profile settings.
├──🔧 Changes
No More Claim Limits - Contributors can now claim as many fixture requests as they want. The previous 3-claim limit was causing issues and has been removed entirely. Claim away—but don't be greedy!
Cleaner Status Bar - Removed the "SUPPORT_DEV" coffee link from the bottom status bar for a cleaner interface.

├──⚡ Performance
Faster Editor Dashboard - The editor review page now loads significantly faster with server-side pagination. Instead of loading every pending submission at once, the page fetches 20 items at a time with page navigation controls.
Fixture Requests Prioritized - Submissions linked to fixture requests now appear first in the editor queue. When contributors claim and complete fixture requests, editors see that work at the top of their review list.
On-Demand Duplicate Checking - New entries no longer automatically search for duplicates on page load. Editors can click "Check for duplicates" on individual submissions to scan for similar entities—keeping the initial load fast while still catching potential duplicates before approval.
├──🎨 Dashboard Theming
Main Toolbar Always Visible - The site toolbar now stays visible on all dashboard pages (Admin, Contributor, Editor, Vendor). No more hunting for the menu—navigation is always one click away.
Role Color Accents - Each dashboard now has its own color identity with themed borders and highlights:
Admin — Amber accents
Contributor — Blue accents
Editor — Emerald accents
Vendor — Red accents
Active menu items, sidebar borders, and role badges all match your dashboard's color scheme.
├──🔧 Bug Fixes
Linked Claims Not Releasing Claim Slots - Fixed an issue where claims linked to pending submissions still counted against your 3-claim limit. Now when you link a submission to a claimed fixture request, that slot properly frees up so you can claim more work.
XP Rank Display Corrected - Fixed an issue where Veteran and Expert ranks were swapped on profile pages. Your rank badges now display correctly:
Newcomer — Under 1,000 XP
Founding Contributor — 1,000+ XP
Expert — 10,000+ XP
Veteran — 25,000+ XP
Legend — 50,000+ XP

Approval Audit Trail - All pending edit approvals now track which editor approved the submission and when, enabling better accountability and review history.
Contributors Can Now Add Fixture Classes - Fixed a permission error that blocked contributors from adding new fixture classes like "BRAIN" (Power + Data Drivers). You can now expand the classification system while contributing fixtures.

├──🔧 Bug Fixes

Now, once you link a submission to a claim, that slot frees up immediately so you can keep contributing while waiting for editor review.
Link Request Validation - Submissions can only be linked to your own claimed requests, ensuring proper credit and preventing stuck claims.

├──📍 Locate Tab & Quick Access

Your Voice is Worth 75 XP - Submitting feedback through our feedback system now rewards you with 75 XP. Bug reports, feature requests, general feedback—every submission earns you XP while helping us improve RiderReady. Check out the "How to Earn XP" sections on the Contributors and Users pages to see all the ways to build your XP.
├──📊 Smarter Profile Stats
See What Matters to You - Your profile now shows the XP-earning activities that actually apply to your role. Regular users see Reviews, Votes, Inventory Reports, and Feedback. Contributors see additional stats like Fixtures Added and Edits. No more seeing zeros for things you can't do yet—just the contributions that count for you.
├──🏷️ Vendor Target Markets
Clearer Terminology - What was called "Specialties" on vendor pages is now "Target Markets"—because that's what it actually means. Filter vendors by the markets they serve: Concert/Touring, Theater, Corporate Events, Broadcast/Film, and more.

Surge XP Now Applied - Fixed an issue where contributors weren't receiving their XP surge multiplier bonus when their fixture submissions were approved. If you submitted during a surge period, your bonus is now properly applied.

AI Search Shows All Results - AI search now displays all matching fixtures instead of limiting to 5. When AI finds 20 fixtures for your query, you'll see all 20 in the scrollable dropdown.
[0.3.6.4b] - January 17, 2026

├──⚡ Flexible Macro Positioning
Place Macros Anywhere - You can now place macro buttons at specific positions with gaps between them. Want a macro always at position 1 and another at position 5? ├──⚡ Dynamic Macro Buttons
Lists & Presets at Your Fingertips - Your macro buttons just got more powerful. Open the macro customize modal and you'll find two new sections: "My Lists" and "Saved Filters". Tap any of your lists or saved filter presets to add them as macro buttons. One tap takes you directly to that list or applies those filters instantly.
Save Your Filters - On the Fixtures page, set up your favorite filter combination and click "Save Preset" in the filter bar. Name it something memorable like "LED Pars" or "Quiet Moving Lights". Your preset is saved to your account and can be turned into a macro button for instant access.

├──🤖 AI Search Back in Toolbar
Ask Questions, Get Fixtures - AI search returns to the toolbar! Click the search icon to toggle between standard and AI mode. Ask natural language questions like "Bright IP65 wash under 20kg" or "Quiet spot for broadcast". When AI mode is active, the icon changes to a robot and highlights in orange.

Example Queries - When you activate AI mode, the dropdown shows clickable example queries to help you get started.
├──🔍 Smarter Search
Go Where the Results Are - When you search and hit Enter, the app now sends you to the right place based on what matches. Searching for a manufacturer name like "Acme"? If only manufacturers match, you'll land on the manufacturers page instead of fixtures. Same for vendors. No more empty fixture results when you meant to search something else.
├──📱 Better Responsive Layout
Icons When Needed - On medium-sized screens, the navigation links (Lighting, Mfr, Vendors) now show only icons to save space. Full labels return on larger screens. Hover over any icon to see its label in a tooltip.
No More Overlap - Fixed an issue where the search bar could overlap the buttons on either side when zoomed in or on narrower screens.
├──⚡ Electric Surge Animation
Feel the Lightning - XP surge animations have been completely redesigned with dramatic electric effects. Real lightning bolts crackle around the badge, sparks shoot outward, and plasma energy pulses through the display. The higher your surge multiplier, the more electrifying the visuals:
1.5x-2.5x - Yellow electric pulses with gentle sparks and glowing field
2.5x-5x - Orange lightning bolts with rapid sparks and shimmer effects
5x-8x - Intense crackling with multiple lightning arcs and particle storms
8x+ - Full electrical storm mode with corner arcs, plasma waves, and maximum chaos
Both the toolbar contributor badge and the surge banner on your contributor dashboard now respond dynamically to the current surge level. Lightning bolts randomly regenerate and flicker, sparks fly in all directions, and the electric field intensifies—you'll definitely know when it's prime time to submit!
├──🔧 Bug Fixes
Vendor Rep Badge Color - The Vendor Rep badge in the notification dropdown now displays in the correct red color to match other vendor UI elements like the status bar and avatar frame.

├──☑️ Selection Persistence
Keep Your Selection - When you select multiple fixtures and click the heart to favorite (or unfavorite) them all, your selection now stays intact. Previously, this action would clear your selection, making you re-select everything if you wanted to do something else with those fixtures. Now you can favorite a batch and immediately add them to a list—no re-selecting needed.
├──❤️ Faster Favorites
Instant Response - Favoriting and unfavoriting fixtures now responds instantly. The heart button updates immediately while the save happens in the background.

├──📋 Help Build RiderReady Survey
Share Your Expertise - We're expanding to new departments and want your input! A new community survey lets you tell us how you can help shape RiderReady's future. Whether you're a potential contributor with industry knowledge, a developer interested in building the platform, a vendor who wants specific features, or just have feedback to share—we want to hear from you.
Personalized Questions - The survey adapts based on your role. Contributors answer questions about their department expertise and what they'd like to contribute. Developers share their technical skills and feature interests. Vendors tell us what data and tools would help their business. Everyone gets relevant questions.
Homepage Banner - Look for the "Help Build RiderReady" banner in your homepage sidebar. Once you complete the survey, it'll show a thank-you message instead.
├──🗂️ Database Pools Redesign
All Departments at a Glance - The homepage now displays a grid of 9 department pools: Lighting, Audio, Video, Backline, Staging & Rigging, Power & Distro, Crew & Labor, Prod Services, and Venues. Lighting is live now—others are coming soon.
Drill Into Departments - Click the Lighting pool to view its sub-pools (Fixtures, Consoles, Manufacturers, Vendors) right in place. A back button returns you to the main grid. Consoles coming soon.
Live Stats Preview - The Lighting pool shows inline counts (227 fixtures · 25 mfrs · 40 vendors) so you can see pool sizes at a glance before drilling in.
├──⌨️ Keyboard Navigation

F M V — Jump to Fixtures, Manufacturers, or Vendors (inside Lighting)
Escape — Return to main pool view
Shortcuts are disabled when typing in search or input fields.
├──📦 Recent Inventory Expanded
More Vendors, More Fixtures - The Recent Inventory grid on the homepage now includes fixtures from both community sightings and official vendor inventory. Previously, only user-reported fixtures appeared, which meant some vendors were missing. Now you'll see a fuller picture of what's available at rental houses.

├──⚡ Contributor Surge XP System
Earn More When Demand is High - Contributors now earn bonus XP when the community needs fixtures added! Like ride-share surge pricing, the more unfulfilled requests waiting, the higher the XP multiplier—up to 10x during peak demand.
See Your Bonus - Surge multiplier is prominently displayed:
Toolbar Badge - Shows current surge multiplier when above 1.5x
Dashboard Banner - Large surge indicator with XP breakdown at the top of the contributor page
Request Cards - Each pending and claimed request shows the current surge bonus
Locked at Submission - When you submit your work fulfilling a request, the surge multiplier is locked in. Even if demand drops while your submission is being reviewed, you'll still get the bonus you saw when you hit submit.
Fair Claiming - To keep things fair, you can now have a maximum of 3 claims at once. This prevents stockpiling claims during high-surge periods and ensures everyone gets a chance to contribute.
├──🎯 Compact Toolbar
Streamlined Navigation - The toolbar has been completely redesigned with a clean, consistent layout. All elements are vertically sized to match for a polished, professional appearance.
New Menu Button - A hamburger menu button replaces the inline navigation buttons. Click to open a dropdown with links to Lighting, Manufacturers, and Vendors. The current section is highlighted, and the version info lives at the bottom of the menu.
Centered Version Badge - The version number is now displayed prominently in the center as "vX.X.X.X" with "public beta" stacked below. Click to view the changelog.
Compact Badges - Notification badges now show just the icon and count for a cleaner look. Hover to see full details.

4-Wide Macros - The MACROS grid now displays all 4 buttons in a single row on mobile with compact styling that scales up on larger screens.
├──🔧 Fixture Page Polish
Better Mobile Layout - The fixture detail page now fits better on mobile screens. Stats wrap naturally, the header is more compact, and tab content has tighter padding.
├──🗺️ Vendor Map Popup
Complete Redesign - The vendor availability map popup has been completely redesigned to match the app's look and feel. The popup now uses the app's font, respects your light/dark theme preference, and shows vendor logos when available.
├──📋 Contributor Fixture Requests

├──🎨 Role Mode Indicator

Editor - Indigo dot, "Mode: Editor"
Contributor - Blue dot, "Mode: Contributor"
Vendor Rep - Red dot, "Mode: Vendor"
Standard User - Green dot, "Mode: Standard"
├──📄 Document Quick Links
Review Specs While Editing - The fixture edit form sidebar now shows quick link buttons (↗) next to each document category. Click to open the primary document directly in a new tab—no need to open the Document Manager first. Perfect for quickly referencing manuals, spec sheets, or product pages while editing.
├──🎨 User Menu Role Colors
Role Identity in Your Menu - The user menu dropdown now displays role-based colors on your avatar border and role badge. Each role has its own distinct color matching the site's role hierarchy—admin purple, editor indigo, moderator orange, contributor blue, vendor red, manufacturer rep teal, and standard user gray.
Cleaner Badge Styling - Role badges now use bold text with thinner 1px borders for a cleaner, flatter appearance. Role names have been shortened—"Vendor Rep" and "Manufacturer Rep" instead of the longer "Representative" versions.
Clickable Profile Section - The user info section at the top of the dropdown is now clickable and takes you directly to your profile page. A subtle "View Profile" indicator with arrow appears on hover.
Cleaner Menu Layout - Reorganized the menu structure. "My Profile" was removed from the menu items since the header section now links to your profile. "Switch Account" moved to the bottom section directly above "Sign Out" for a cleaner flow.

├──🤖 Smarter AI Extraction
Power Connectors - AI auto-extract now detects power connector types from spec sheets and automatically populates them. Recognizes powerCON TRUE1, original powerCON, Edison, IEC C14, CEE industrial connectors, twist-lock, Wieland, Camlock, and more.
Better Protocol Detection - Enhanced recognition of communication protocols. The AI now reliably identifies Art-Net, sACN, RDM, MA-Net, KiNET, MIDI, OSC, PoE, WiFi, Bluetooth, and other protocols from manufacturer documentation.
Wireless DMX Recognition - Improved detection of wireless DMX systems including CRMX, W-DMX, RC4, City Theatrical Multiverse/RatPac, ADJ E-Fly/WiFLY, and other proprietary systems. Specific model variants are now recognized.
Checkbox Fields - AI extraction now better detects boolean features like iris, frost filter, framing shutters, animation wheel, continuous pan/tilt, flicker-free, battery powered, CTB/CTO range, and fan mode options.
├──🔧 Improved Data Merging
Additive Array Merge - When you import a GDTF file and then use AI extraction, the protocols, wireless types, and power connectors now combine instead of one overwriting the other. If GDTF finds DMX512 and RDM, then AI finds Art-Net and sACN, you get all four protocols selected.
├──🏪 Vendor Notifications
Your Own Notification Badge - Vendor Reps now see their own notification badge in the toolbar (green) instead of the contributor badge. The badge shows:
Pending Team Claims - How many users are requesting to join your vendor team
Community Reports - How many community inventory reports need your review
Click the badge to jump directly to your vendor dashboard. Previously, vendors incorrectly saw the contributor notification badge for fixture requests, which wasn't relevant to vendor workflows.
├──🏪 Vendor Rep Banner
See Who You Represent - Vendor Reps now see a "REPRESENTING" section on the home page above Top Favorites. At a glance, see your vendor's logo, company name, verification status, location count, and inventory count. Quick links take you directly to your vendor dashboard or public storefront page.

├──🤖 AI Search 2.0
Smarter Search Results - The AI Consultant now shows specs that actually matter for your query:
Query-Relevant Specs - Search "wide zoom range" and results now prominently display the actual beam angle range (e.g., "7°-50°") instead of generic specs. Ask about "broadcast fixtures" and you'll see CRI and color temperature highlighted.
Real Filtering - When you ask for "wide zoom range", the AI now calculates and filters by actual zoom range in degrees, not just whether it has motorized zoom. Same for pan range, gobo counts, and lens diameter.
Industry Awareness - The AI understands professional contexts. Say "theatre" and it knows you likely want framing shutters and profiles. Say "broadcast" and it prioritizes flicker-free fixtures with high CRI. Say "concert" and it looks for high-output movers. 10 industry contexts supported including club, church, architectural, rental, and more.
Better Sorting - Results can now be sorted by zoom range, lens diameter, pan range, and gobo count for more relevant ordering.
More Specs Displayed - New spec types include beam angle range, color temperature range, gobo info (wheels/slots/rotating), pan/tilt range, DMX channels, and lens diameter—all color-coded for quick scanning.
├──🏅 Rank Badges
Badge Display Improvements - Your contributor rank badge now displays prominently across the site:
Homepage YOUR_STATUS - Your rank badge (Founding, Veteran, Expert, Legend) now appears larger and links directly to the contributors leaderboard. See where you stand among the community!
Contributors Leaderboard - Large rank badge images now appear above each rank section for better visual hierarchy.
Profile Pages - Increased badge sizes on profile pages for better visibility.
Updated Badge Descriptions - Founding Contributor badge now correctly shows "1,000 XP earned in our early days" instead of the old contribution count.
Leaderboard Focus - Vendor reps are no longer shown on the contributors leaderboard. The leaderboard celebrates community contributors; vendor reps have their own vendor management tools.
├──🏪 Vendor Rep Home Page
Custom Dashboard Experience - Vendor Reps now see a tailored home page experience designed for managing their rental inventory:
My Inventory Stats - The "Recent Inventory" section becomes "My Inventory Stats" showing your official inventory count, pending community reports to review, and thumbnail grid of recent items with a quick link to manage.
Hot In Your Inventory - New sidebar section showing your most popular stocked fixtures based on what users are viewing and favoriting. Great for seeing which of your rental items are in demand.
Quick Links Updated - The MACROS buttons now include "Vendor Dashboard", "View Storefront", and "Vendor Guide" for faster navigation to vendor-specific pages.
├──🔧 Bug Fixes
Votes Now Persist - Fixed an issue where community inventory votes would appear to work but reset after refreshing the page. Votes are now saved and displayed correctly.
Filter Typo Fixed - Corrected "All My Listss" to "All My Lists" in the fixtures page filter dropdown.
Accurate Inventory Counts - Fixed vendor inventory counts showing higher numbers than expected when fixtures appeared in both official and community-reported inventory.
Adopt/Dismiss Reports Fixed - Vendor Reps can now adopt and dismiss community inventory reports without errors. The system correctly handles fixtures that may already exist in official inventory.
Inventory Changes Show Instantly - Removed caching on inventory endpoints so when you adopt, dismiss, or remove inventory items, changes appear immediately without needing to refresh.

Team Invitations - Invite colleagues to join your vendor team via email. They'll receive a secure invitation link to accept and join your team.
Claim Requests - If someone tries to claim an already-managed vendor, existing reps receive a notification and can approve or reject the request from their dashboard.
My Dashboard Link - Vendor reps now see a "My Dashboard" button on the Vendors page for quick access to their vendor management tools.
├──🔧 Bug Fixes
Classification Form Cleanup - Removed a stray "$" symbol from the Classification section header in the fixture form.
Add New Class/Form Factor - Fixed an issue where adding a new fixture class or form factor would fail if one with the same name already existed under a different family. The system now automatically links the existing class or form factor to the additional family.

├──📊 GDTF Batch Import for DMX Charts
Import Multiple Modes at Once
When creating DMX charts from a GDTF file, you can now select multiple modes and import them all at once. Each mode becomes its own DMX chart that you can edit later.
How It Works
1. Open the Create DMX Chart modal on any fixture
2. Upload or select a GDTF file
3. Use checkboxes to select the modes you want (or click "Select All")
4. Click "Import X Modes" to create all charts at once
5. Watch the progress bar as each chart is created
Progress & Feedback
The batch import shows real-time progress ("Creating chart 2 of 5...") with a progress bar. When complete, you'll see which charts succeeded (green) and which failed (red) with error details.
├──👤 Personal Filters
Filter by Your Lists
A new "Personal" section appears at the top of the fixtures sidebar when you're logged in. This section contains:
My Favorites - The favorites filter has moved here from Basic Properties
My Lists - Filter fixtures by any of your custom lists using multiselect
Select one or more lists to see only the fixtures in those lists. Combine with other filters to narrow down results even further. Your list filter selections are saved and restored when you return to the fixtures page.
If you haven't created any lists yet, there's a quick link to create your first one right from the filter panel.
├──🎛️ Fixture Filter Improvements
Smarter Filter Organization
Power connector filters have been moved from the Control & DMX section to the Power & Electrical section where they belong. The Favorites filter has moved to the new Personal section.
Cascading Filters
When you select a Family (like "Moving Head" or "LED Par"), the Class, Form Factor, and Head Movement filters now automatically show only the options that make sense for that family. This makes it much easier to find what you're looking for without scrolling through irrelevant options.
If you change your Family selection, any Class, Form Factor, or Head Movement filters that don't apply to the new family are automatically cleared.
DMX Chart Data Priority
When viewing fixture details, if a fixture has imported DMX charts, the channel counts from those charts now display instead of manually entered data. This ensures you see the exact channel counts for each mode (like "29/29/55/55") rather than just a range. The mode count is also tracked and displayed separately.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where filter dropdowns would sometimes not appear when clicked
Fixed spelling in filter labels ("All Families" and "All Classes")
Removed redundant Power Output Connector filter

Note: Vendor Reps cannot delete entities - delete permissions remain restricted to Editors, Moderators, and Admins only.
├──🔧 Bug Fixes
Fixture Filter Dropdowns Fixed
Filter dropdowns in the fixtures sidebar no longer get cut off when scrolling. The dropdowns now appear correctly above all other content regardless of scroll position.
Manufacturer Names Visible for Guests
Visitors who aren't logged in now see manufacturer names on fixture cards. Previously, manufacturer names showed as "Unknown" for unauthenticated users.
Fixtures Page Filters Now Work
Fixed multiple filters on the fixtures page that weren't applying correctly:
Status Filter - Filter by current or discontinued fixtures now works
Documentation Filter - Filter by available documentation (manual, photometric data, GDTF, video, product page) now works with the new document system
Communication Protocols - Filter by DMX512, RDM, Art-Net, sACN, and other protocols now works
Wireless DMX - Filter by CRMX, W-DMX, and other wireless DMX types now works
Power Connectors - Filter by power input and output connector types now works
Vendor Location Updates Preserve Inventory

├──⚡ Faster Experience
Smart Data Caching
Pages now load faster thanks to intelligent caching. Your favorites, lists, and profile data are cached locally and shared across pages. Navigate between fixtures and your favorites load instantly instead of fetching from the server every time.
Instant Feedback
Adding or removing favorites now updates the UI immediately before the server confirms. If something goes wrong, the change rolls back automatically. No more waiting for spinners on every action.
Smarter Background Updates
Admin notifications now refresh intelligently instead of constantly polling. When you switch away from the tab, updates pause. When you return, fresh data loads automatically.
├──🔧 Fixes
XP Rank Scale Corrected
Fixed an issue where the Veteran and Expert ranks were displayed in the wrong order on profile pages and the leaderboard. The correct progression is now: Newcomer → Founding (1K XP) → Veteran (10K XP) → Expert (25K XP) → Legend (50K XP).
Inventory Reports Open to Everyone
All logged-in users can now submit inventory reports for fixtures at vendor locations. Contributors and staff have their reports published immediately. Regular users' reports go through a quick review first. All community reports stay labeled as community-sourced until the vendor officially adopts them.

Visual icons show channel types at a glance - directional arrows for movement, colored dots for colors, distinct icons for gobos, prisms, and beam shaping. A PDF viewer lets you work side-by-side with manufacturer spec sheets.
├──⚡ Power Connectors
Fixtures now track power input and output connectors with 17 industry-standard options: powerCON TRUE1/Legacy, Edison, IEC C13/C14, CEE (16A/32A/63A), Camlock, and more. Filter fixtures by connector type on the browse page.
Smart categorization means input fields only show receptacles and output fields only show plugs. Power specs are now split from physical specs for easier scanning.
├──✨ Community Reference Data
Found a connector, protocol, or wireless type we don't have? Add it yourself with the "Add New" buttons in fixture forms. Your additions are immediately available for everyone.
├──🎨 Theme Improvements
Beam angle visualizer and tooltips now adapt to light/dark themes. Better contrast in dark mode.
├──🐛 Fixes
DMX Chart creation restricted to contributors. Fixed GDTF range parsing for correct end values.

├──🏅 Specialty Badges & UI Improvements
Pick Your Specialty
New Specialty Picker - Selecting your specialty badge is now easier than ever. Click the colorful "Pick Specialty" button under your name on your profile page to open a visual picker. Browse specialties organized by category (Lighting, Audio, Video, Production, Rigging, and Other) and click to select. Your choice saves instantly.
Improved Badge Visibility - Specialty badges are now more visible with increased contrast. The colors are brighter and borders are more defined, making them easier to read at a glance.
Crisp SVG Icons - Specialty badges now use sharp vector icons instead of emoji. These icons look crisp at any size and match the color of your badge category.
For Contributors Adding Manufacturers
Country Dropdown - When adding or editing a manufacturer, the country field is now a dropdown menu with flag emojis (🇺🇸 USA, 🇩🇪 Germany, 🇨🇿 Czech Republic, etc.). No more typing country names - just select from the list.
Visual Polish
Report Button Visibility - The "Report Missing/Incorrect Data" button on fixture pages is now always styled in red, making it easier to spot when you need to report an issue.
Consistent Icons - Various emoji icons across the profile page have been replaced with matching SVG icons for a more polished, professional look.
Homepage Improvements
Contributors Ticker - A new scrolling ticker on the homepage highlights our top 10 contributors. See contributor names and their total contributions scrolling below the new fixtures ticker. Click anywhere on the ticker to visit the Contributors page and see the full leaderboard.
New Fixtures Label - The scrolling ticker showing recently added fixtures now has a "New Fixtures" label on the left side, making it clear what you're looking at.
Profile Page Updates
Square Profile Images - Profile pictures are now displayed as squares with rounded corners instead of circles, giving them a more modern look.
Role-Colored Borders - Your profile image now has a subtle colored border that matches your role (yellow for admins, purple for editors, blue for contributors, etc.).
Admin Updates
Moderator Role Available - Admins can now assign the Moderator role to users from the admin panel.
Better Empty States
Friendly Messages - If you visit the fixtures page and there's nothing to show, you'll see a helpful message instead of technical jargon.
Automatic Fixture Request Completion
Requests Auto-Complete - When you claim a fixture request and submit the fixture, the request is now automatically marked as completed. No need to click "Mark Complete" anymore - just add the fixture and you're done!
Streamlined Workflow - The "Mark Complete" button has been removed from the Contributor Dashboard since it's no longer needed. Simply click "+ Add Fixture" from your claimed request, fill out the form, and submit. The request will be marked as completed automatically.

├──🔒 Profile Consolidation, Security & Editor Improvements
Streamlined Profile Pages
Simplified Profile Tabs - Your profile page now has just 3 tabs instead of 5:
Overview - Quick stats, favorites preview, and lists preview all in one place
Collections - Your favorites and lists combined into a single browsable tab
Settings - All account settings, profile editing, and account management in one location
Cleaner Public Profiles - Other users' profiles are now easier to navigate with Overview, Collections, and About tabs.
Documentation Filters
Documentation Filter - New filter on the Fixtures page lets you find fixtures based on available documentation. Filter by User Manual, Photometric Data, GDTF File, Product Video, or Product Page. Select multiple options to find fixtures that have all the documentation you need.
Filter Location - Look for the new "Documentation" section at the bottom of the filter sidebar on the Fixtures page.
For Contributors
Fixture Standards Notice - The Contributor Dashboard now displays a clear notice about which fixtures are accepted. Consumer-market Chinese lighting products from brands like SHEHDS, Betopper, UKing, and similar are not suitable for our professional database.
For Editors
Save Draft - Editors can now save changes to pending submissions without immediately approving them. This allows you to work on submissions across multiple sessions before publishing. Look for the new "Save Draft" button when reviewing submissions.
AI Extract Improvements
Text Mode - The AI Extract tool on the Add Fixture page now accepts pasted text in addition to URLs and file uploads. Simply switch to "Text" mode and paste your specification text directly. This is the fastest and most efficient extraction method when you already have the specs copied.
Report Data Issues
Report Missing or Incorrect Data - Found a mistake or missing information on a fixture page? You can now report it directly. Look for the "Report Missing/Incorrect Data" button in the sidebar on any fixture detail page. Select the field with the issue, describe the problem, and optionally provide the correct value. Editors will review your report and make corrections.
Contributors Recognition
Contributors Page - A new page recognizing our top contributors is now available. Click the CONTRIBUTORS stat on the homepage to see leaderboards for both Staff (Editors & Admins) and regular Contributors. Each card shows the contributor's rank, avatar, role, and contribution stats. Click any profile to view their full public page. The page features color-coded cards matching role colors, Verified Pro badges with glow effects, and works great on mobile devices and in light mode.
Bug Fixes
Extended Tilt Range - Fixed an issue where fixtures with tilt ranges beyond 360° could not be submitted. Moving heads with extended tilt (up to 720°) are now fully supported.
List Count Update - Adding or removing fixtures from lists now immediately updates the count shown in the modal.
GDTF Year Introduced
The GDTF import no longer fills the "Year Introduced" field from the file's Revision section.
Revision dates in GDTF files represent when the file was created/updated (often 2023-2024), not when the fixture was released.
This field should now be entered manually or sourced from manufacturer product pages for accuracy.
Year Introduced Web Search - A new search button next to the Year Introduced field opens a Google search with the manufacturer and fixture name, helping you quickly find release date information.

See What You're Filtering At a Glance
Filters on the Fixtures page are now more approachable with a new tag cloud display.
What's New:
Visible Filter Tags - When you apply filters, they now appear as removable tags in a bar above the fixture grid. No more guessing what filters are active.
One-Click Removal - Click the × on any tag to remove that specific filter instantly.
Clear All - A "Clear All" button lets you reset all filters at once.
Remember Filters - Toggle the "Remember" checkbox to keep your filter preferences across sessions. Your filters will be restored next time you visit.

├──✅ Unified Selection
One Selection, Many Actions
We've simplified how you select and act on multiple fixtures.
What's New:
One Selection System - Whether you click checkboxes or drag-to-select, fixtures now go into the same selection. No more confusion about which selection is which.
Compact Action Bar - When you have fixtures selected, a slim toolbar appears with quick actions: Compare, Favorite, and Add to List. Icons with short labels keep it compact.
Select All - Click "All" to quickly select every fixture in your current view.
Works Everywhere - The unified selection works the same in Grid, Tile, and List views.
Clean Workflow - After you perform an action, the selection clears automatically so you can start fresh.

├──🛡️ Classification Data Integrity & Validation
Preventing Invalid Data from AI and GDTF Imports
This release fixes an issue where fixtures could display invalid class values like "Moving Head Spot" or "LED Wash" that don't exist in our classification system.
What's Fixed:
Invalid Class Values - Cleaned up 6 fixtures that had compound class names (like "Moving Head Spot") instead of simple, valid classes (like "spot"). These phantom values were appearing in the UI even though they couldn't be selected in the form.
AI Import Validation - When using AI extraction to populate fixture data, classification values (class, form factor, family, head movement) are now validated against the lookup tables. Invalid values from AI are filtered out instead of being saved.
GDTF Import Validation - Same validation now applies to GDTF file imports. Any classification values that don't match valid options are filtered out.
Consistent Display - All fixture pages (detail, list, compare, print) now consistently normalize and format class values, preventing display issues from mixed-case data.
These changes ensure that only valid, selectable classification values can be stored in the database, maintaining data integrity going forward.

├──🔧 Data Quality & Unit Conversion Fixes
Bug Fixes That Improve Your Experience
This release focuses on fixing several bugs that were affecting data quality and the editing workflow.
What's Fixed:
Fixture Classes - Resolved an issue where fixture class badges could appear duplicated (e.g., "Strobe" showing twice). This was caused by case sensitivity between the database and UI - now properly normalized.
Manufacturer Edits - Fixed an issue where editing a manufacturer's country, name, or founded year wouldn't save. All manufacturer fields now persist correctly.
Manufacturer Review Workflow - When editors click to review a pending manufacturer submission, they now see the correct manufacturer form instead of accidentally getting the fixture form.
AI & GDTF Import Units - When you're in imperial mode, AI-extracted and GDTF-imported specifications now display in inches and pounds instead of showing metric values. The database always stores metric, but your display preference is now respected during import.
Dimension Toggle - Fixed a longstanding bug where the imperial/metric toggle was converting dimension values in the wrong direction.
GDTF Filenames - GDTF file cards now show the actual filename (like "Martin@MAC Encore Performance WRM.gdtf") instead of a generic "Primary GDTF" label.
These fixes ensure cleaner data throughout the platform and a more consistent editing experience.

├──📝 Fixture Notes
Add Comments & Context to Fixtures
Contributors+ can now add general notes to fixtures! Use the new "Notes" section in the fixture form to add helpful information that doesn't fit elsewhere - quirks, tips, compatibility notes, or anything else useful for other professionals.
Notes are plain text only (no links) and appear alongside the fixture specifications.
├──✏️ Edit Your Pending Submissions
Make Changes Before Editor Review
Contributors asked: "If my fixture is still pending approval - shouldn't I be able to make updates to it?" We listened!
What's New:
View / Edit Button - Pending submissions on the Contributor Dashboard now have a "View / Edit" button
Full Edit Access - Click through to see your submission and make corrections
Update Until Reviewed - Continue improving your submission until an editor reviews it
Same Form Interface - Uses the familiar fixture form you used to create the submission
This is great for fixing typos, adding missing data, or refining your submission before an editor sees it.
├──📊 Filter Analytics
Understanding How You Search
We're now tracking anonymous filter usage patterns to better understand how professionals search for fixtures. This helps us improve the filtering experience and identify which filters are most useful.
What's Tracked:

├──🔧 Bug Fixes
Communication Protocol & Wireless DMX Filters
Fixed an issue where filtering fixtures by Communication Protocol (DMX512, RDM, Art-Net, etc.) or Wireless DMX Type returned no results. Filters now work correctly across all 150+ fixtures with protocol data.
Beam Angle Display
Fixed duplicate values for fixed-beam fixtures. Previously showed "108° - 108°" for fixtures with a single beam angle - now correctly displays "108°" when min and max are the same.
Homepage Fixture Requests
Fixed a 404 error that appeared on the homepage when loading pending fixture requests for contributors. The missing API endpoint has been added.
├──✓ Verified Pro Badge Improvements
Consistent Dark Theme & Better Login Flow
The Verified Pro badge styling has been updated across the Support page:
Darker Contrast - Black background with bright green text and subtle glow effect
Consistent Styling - All Verified Pro mentions now use the same premium look
Better Login Flow - Logged-out users clicking the badge are now redirected to login first (then back to Support page to complete application)

├──🔌 Communication Protocols Feature
Granular Control Over Fixture Connectivity
We've replaced the simple "Wireless DMX" and "RDM Compatible" checkboxes with comprehensive multi-select dropdowns for communication protocols and wireless DMX types.
Communication Protocols (20 options):
Control: DMX512, RDM, MIDI, MIDI Show Control, OSC, RS-232, USB
Network: Art-Net, sACN (E1.31), MA-Net/MA-Net2/MA-Net3, KiNET, Pathport, ShowNet, Ethernet
Power: PoE, PoE+
Wireless: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
Wireless DMX Types (13 options):
LumenRadio: CRMX, CRMX Nova, CRMX TimoSync
Wireless Solution: W-DMX, W-DMX G5
Others: ELC eWDMX, RC4 variants, City Theatrical RatPac/Multiverse, Proprietary
This gives you much more detailed information about how fixtures communicate and connect, making it easier to plan your rig and ensure compatibility.
All existing fixture data was automatically migrated to the new system.
├──👁️ Better Editor Dashboard
Compact Categorized Review Layout
Editors reviewing pending fixture submissions now see a much cleaner, more organized view:
Identity Section - Name, manufacturer, model in a highlighted panel
Categorized Sections - Specs grouped into Classification, Physical, Power, Light, Optics, Movement, Control, Color, Effects, Special Features, and Resources
Compact Grid - 2-column layout instead of a long vertical list of 50+ fields
Visual Diff - Old values shown with red strikethrough, new values in green
Only Shows What Changed - Empty categories hidden automatically
This makes it much faster to review contributions and spot issues.
├──📋 Contributor Pending Submissions
Track Your Submissions
Contributors can now see their pending fixture additions and edits right on the Contributor Dashboard:
Yellow-highlighted panel at the top showing all items awaiting editor review
Each card shows: fixture name, type (Fixture/Manufacturer/Vendor), date submitted, and NEW or EDIT badge
Quick links to view the original fixture if editing an existing one
3-column grid layout (adapts to 1-2 columns on mobile/tablet)
No more wondering if your submission went through or when it'll be reviewed!
├──🎨 Cleaner Fixture Pages
Empty Specs Now Hidden
Fixture detail pages and list views no longer show empty specification fields with placeholder dashes or "N/A" text. If a fixture doesn't have data for a particular spec (like Gobos, CRI, or IP Rating), that field simply won't appear.
This makes fixture pages cleaner and easier to scan, especially for fixtures with limited specification data.
├──📱 Mobile Experience Overhaul
Improved Layouts Across the App
We've completely redesigned mobile layouts throughout the app for a better experience on phones and tablets:
Sidebars - All sidebars now fit perfectly between the toolbar and status bar without overlapping either. Page headers can slide behind the sidebar when opened.
Compare Page - The tip bar stacks into two rows on mobile with shorter labels like "Images", "Expand", and "Collapse"
Fixture Details - Reorganized header with "Back" and "Info" buttons on the left (Info button now points left to match the sidebar direction). GDTF download button now visible on mobile.
Control Tab - Specs display in a single column on mobile instead of cramming into multiple narrow columns
├──✨ Premium Verified Pro Badge
New Look for Verified Professionals
The Verified Pro badge has been redesigned with a premium appearance:
Black background with bright green text
Glowing green border effect
Shield verification icon
Bold "VERIFIED PRO" text
The badge now stands out more and better reflects the professional status of verified users.
├──☑️ Better Multi-Select
Drag Selection Now Additive
The drag-to-select feature on the fixtures page now works better when selecting multiple groups:
Previously: Selecting a new group would replace your previous selections
Now: New selections add to your existing checked fixtures
Smart toggling: All checked → uncheck all; All unchecked or mixed → select all

├──🤖 AI Search Gets Smarter
Accurate Filtering with Database-Validated Values
The AI-powered search on the home page got a major upgrade. We fixed an issue where AI-generated filters weren't matching our database values, causing searches to return no results.
Now the AI uses exact values from our database lookup tables:
"CMY spot with gobos" - Correctly finds CMY color-mixing spot fixtures
"Outdoor LED wash IP65" - Filters by IP rating for weather resistance
"Broadcast profile high CRI" - Finds fixtures with 90+ CRI and flicker-free
"Lightweight touring wash under 15kg" - Filters by weight
"Blinder for stage" - Finds blinder fixtures
"Pixel bar for effects" - Finds pixel-class fixtures with batten form factor
"Compact followspot" - Matches both fixture class and form factor
All filter fields now use validated database values for fixture class, fixture family, form factor, head movement, light source, color mixing type, and zoom type.
Results increased from 10 to 20 fixtures per search.
├──🔧 Filter Fixes
Light Source and Other Filters Now Work Correctly
Fixed an issue where filtering by Light Source (LED, Discharge, etc.) and other classification fields wasn't returning all matching fixtures. The problem was that older fixtures in the database had different capitalization than the new lookup tables expected.
All fixture data has been normalized to use consistent lowercase values, so filters now work reliably across all fixtures.
├──📱 Mobile Improvements
Better Experience on Small Screens
The fixtures page toolbar has been optimized for mobile:
Filter button is now icon-only (no text) to save space
View mode buttons shortened to just G/T/L
Fixture count moves below the toolbar on narrow screens
├──📐 Fixture Grid Improvements
Cards Stack Left-to-Right
Fixed an issue where fixture cards would stretch to fill the screen when only 2-3 were displayed. Cards now stack from left to right with consistent sizing (180-220px width range).
We also increased the spacing between cards from 16px to 20px, making it easier to drag a bounding box for multi-select without accidentally clicking on fixtures.
Square Thumbnails & Consistent Heights
Fixture cards now have square image thumbnails (instead of variable height) and a maximum width of 220px. Cards in the same row match heights, so the grid looks cleaner with no more uneven edges.
├──🔍 Search Clears on Navigation
Fresh Searches Every Time
The search bar on the fixtures page now clears when you navigate away. Previously, if you had "Remember Filters" enabled, your search text would persist - now only the filter settings are remembered, so you always start with a fresh search.
├──🔓 All Fixtures Load
No More 100 Fixture Limit
Previously the fixtures page was capped at displaying 100 fixtures. Now all fixtures load at once. (Future premium subscription tiers may reintroduce limits for comparison features.)
├──🔔 Better Notifications
Unified, Color-Coded, and Responsive
The notification system got a major overhaul for admins, editors, and contributors. Every notification type now has its own color-coded indicator in the toolbar:
Orange - Pending Edits (fixtures, manufacturers, vendors awaiting review)
Purple - Contributor Applications (users requesting contributor access)
Green - Verified Pro Applications (industry professionals seeking verification)
Yellow - Pending Fixture Requests (fixtures users have requested)
Blue - Your Work In Progress (requests you've claimed)
All notifications now update together every 15 seconds, and the dots in your profile dropdown disappear immediately when you resolve items (no more stale indicators).
The admin dashboard notification cards are also simplified - cleaner inline buttons instead of the previous gradient cards.
├──✓ Application Status Guards
Stops Duplicate & Invalid Applications
If you're already a Verified Pro or have a pending application, the system now tells you right away instead of showing the application form. Same for contributor applications - if you were previously declined, you'll see a clear status message instead of being able to resubmit.
├──🔧 Admin Settings Text Input Fix
No More Jumpy Cursor
Fixed a frustrating bug in the admin settings dashboard where typing in text fields would randomly delete characters or move your cursor around. The problem was that every keystroke triggered an auto-save to the database, which caused the component to re-render and lose your cursor position.
Now all changes stay local in your browser until you click the Save button. This applies to all admin settings sections:
Discord channel links
Contact email addresses
FAQ editor
User role descriptions
Content blocks
What You'll See:
Orange "● Unsaved" indicator appears when you've made changes
Green "Save" button appears next to unsaved items
Type smoothly without lag or interruption
Changes show instantly in the UI
Database only updates when you click Save
No more accidental publishing while you're still typing, and no more buggy text inputs!
├──🌡️ Color Temperature Range
Full Range Display
Fixtures with adjustable color temperature now show the full range (e.g., "2700K - 6500K") on both the fixture profile page and the compare page, instead of just a single value.
├──🎨 Compare Page Cleanup
Consistent Styling
The compare page got a visual refresh:
Spec labels are now uniformly styled (gray, uppercase)
No more distracting yellow highlighting on different values
Cleaner, easier to read at a glance
├──🔤 Flexible Color Temp Input
Enter It However You Want
When adding fixtures, you can now enter color temperature ranges in various formats:
2000-7000K (original)
2000K-7000K (K on both values)
2000 - 7000 K (with spaces)
2.700K (European thousand separator)
2,700K (US thousand separator)
No more "exact format required" frustration!
├──🤖 AI Extraction Improvements
Better PDF & Webpage Processing
The AI-powered spec extraction has been improved:
Now handles up to 25MB PDFs (was 10MB)
Better detection of PDFs from URLs that don't report correct content types
More robust parsing of Claude's responses when it returns explanatory text instead of pure JSON
Clearer error messages when extraction fails

├──🖱️ Drag-to-Select Fixtures
File Manager-Style Multi-Selection
The fixtures grid now supports drag-to-select just like Windows Explorer or Mac Finder:
Drag Selection - Click and drag in blank space to create a selection box around fixture cards
Ctrl/Shift Multi-Select - Hold Ctrl or Shift while clicking cards to add them to selection without navigating away
Batch Actions - Click any checkbox in a temporary selection to add ALL selected cards to comparison
Visual Feedback - Selected cards show a prominent border and glow effect
All cards in each row now have equal heights (no more jagged edges from text wrapping), and you can drag selection boxes anywhere in the grid, even below the fixtures.
├──🎯 Cleaner Multi-Select Dropdowns
No More Scattered Checkboxes
The multi-select fields (Fixture Class and Form Factor) have been converted from sprawling checkbox grids to clean dropdown menus. Click the field to open a floating panel with organized checkboxes, then click away to close it. Selected items show up as a comma-separated list in the button. Way cleaner!
├──🎭 Multi-Head Fixture Support
New Fields for Complex Fixtures
Added proper support for multi-head fixtures like the Chauvet DJ Intimidator Hybrid 140SR or bar-style fixtures with multiple cells:
Head Count - How many fixture heads (1-99)
Head Movement - Fixed, Moving, Multi-Fixed, or Multi-Independent
These fields show up prominently in the sidebar when viewing a fixture, making it clear what you're dealing with.
├──🎨 Fixture Profile Improvements
Better Visual Hierarchy
The fixture profile page sidebar got a major visual upgrade:
Hero Metrics - Big, bold cards for Lumens and Power Draw
Badge Display - Multiple classes/form factors shown as amber badges
Better Spacing - Clearer sections with improved typography
More Info - Added CRI, IP Rating, and Dimensions to sidebar
Plus, the Specs tab now has a dedicated Classification section at the top showing all family/class/form factor info with badge styling.
├──⚖️ Compare on Profile Pages
Build Your Comparison List Anywhere
The floating comparison button now appears on fixture detail pages, not just the fixtures list. When you've selected fixtures for comparison, you'll see the button in the bottom-right corner no matter where you are. Makes it way easier to build a comparison list while browsing.
├──📊 Three View Modes
Grid, Tile, or List - Your Choice
The fixtures catalog now has three different viewing modes to match your workflow:
Grid View - The original card layout with large fixture images. Scales from 2 columns on mobile up to 10 columns on ultra-wide displays.
Tile View - More compact cards with smaller images and tighter spacing. Perfect for scanning lots of fixtures quickly.
List View - Table-like rows with small thumbnails, fixture name and manufacturer stacked on the left, and specs in organized columns on the right. Great for comparing specs at a glance.
Toggle between views using the three buttons in the toolbar (before the fixture count). All views support favorites, comparison checkboxes, and clicking manufacturer names to navigate.
├──🎛️ Multi-Select Filters
Filter by Multiple Values at Once
All the major filter dropdowns on the fixtures page now let you select multiple values at once. Looking for fixtures from Martin, Robe, AND Claypaky? Just check all three. Want to see both IP65 and IP67 rated outdoor fixtures? Select them both.
├──🏷️ Multi-Class & Multi-Form Factor
Finally Tag Fixtures That Do Multiple Things
Some fixtures don't fit in a single box. The Acme Tornado? It's a Beam light, but it's also an Effect fixture. Now you can tag it with both.
├──📋 Customizable List View
Arrange Columns Your Way
The list view now lets you customize the table columns to match your workflow:
Drag & Drop Columns - Reorder columns by dragging the headers left or right
Resize Columns - Drag the right edge of any column header to make it wider or narrower
Auto-Save - Your column arrangement and widths are saved to localStorage automatically
Reset Button - Click "Reset Columns" to restore the default layout
The fixture name/manufacturer and image columns stay locked on the left, but all the data columns (Family, Class, Form, Movement, Power, Output, Weight, IP) can be rearranged however you like.
├──⚖️ Sort by Weight
Added weight sorting to the fixtures page dropdown. Now you can sort fixtures from lightest to heaviest (or vice versa) alongside the existing sorts like Name, Manufacturer, Power, and Output.
├──🗄️ Database-Driven Light Source
Light source options are now loaded from a database lookup table instead of hardcoded values. This means they're consistent across filters and forms, and easier to extend in the future. New options include:
LED
Discharge (HMI/MSR)
Halogen
Laser
Plasma
Hybrid
├──∞ Unlimited Comparisons
Compare as Many Fixtures as You Want
The 4-fixture comparison limit has been removed! Now you can compare as many fixtures as you need side-by-side. The comparison table maintains readable column widths (minimum 130px) and becomes horizontally scrollable when you add more fixtures.
├──🎯 Smarter Highlighting
Ties Are Highlighted Too
When multiple fixtures tie for the best value in a category (like two fixtures with the same lumens or weight), they're now ALL highlighted in green. Previously, only one would be highlighted even when multiple fixtures tied for first place. This works for all highlighted specs: ratings, lumens, CRI, power draw, and weight.
├──🐛 Bug Fixes
Fixed Form Header - Save/Cancel buttons now stay at the top of the page when editing fixtures (they were scrolling away before)
Better Error Messages - Fixture update errors now show the actual database error instead of generic "Failed to update" message
No More Layout Breaking - Multi-select dropdowns no longer cause the page to overflow when selecting options

├──🔗 Navigation Fixes
Manufacturer Links on Fixture Cards
Clicking the manufacturer name badge on fixture cards now takes you to that manufacturer's detail page. Previously it was incorrectly adding URL parameters instead of navigating - now it works as expected.
"Browse All Fixtures" Button Works Correctly
The "Browse All X Fixtures" button on manufacturer pages now properly filters the fixtures catalog by that manufacturer. This was a tricky one - the button was navigating correctly but the fixtures page wasn't reading the filter from the URL. Now URL parameters always take priority over your saved filter preferences, so clicking this button will show exactly that manufacturer's fixtures.
├──🐛 Bug Fixes
Remember Filters + URL Params Now Play Nice
If you have "Remember Filters" enabled, your saved filter preferences would previously override URL-based filtering (like clicking "Browse All Fixtures" from a manufacturer page). Now URL parameters always win - so links work correctly, and your preferences are still remembered for normal browsing.

├──🤖 AI Auto-Extract Improvements
DOCX Support Added
AI Auto-Extract now accepts Word documents (.docx) alongside PDFs. Some manufacturers provide spec sheets in Word format, and now you can drop those right into the extraction tool. DOCX files are actually more efficient than PDFs - the text is extracted server-side before hitting the AI, which uses fewer tokens.
File Upload Mode
You can now upload spec sheet files directly instead of just pasting URLs. Toggle between URL and File mode - drag and drop a PDF or DOCX, or click to browse. Perfect for spec sheets that aren't hosted publicly or require login to access.
Better Extraction Quality
We've improved how the AI scrapes manufacturer websites - sites that previously blocked automated requests now work better with browser-like headers and fallback strategies. The AI prompts have also been tuned to be more thorough in finding specifications.
├──📁 GDTF Import URL Support
The GDTF importer now accepts URLs in addition to file uploads. Toggle between File and URL mode - paste a link to a .gdtf file from gdtf-share.com or a manufacturer's site and it'll be fetched and parsed automatically.
├──🎨 UI Consistency
Manufacturer Pages Match Fixture Layout
Manufacturer detail pages now use the same sidebar layout as fixtures and user profiles - a gray sidebar with the logo, quick stats (fixture count, total lumens), and action buttons, with the main content area showing the manufacturer's fixtures grid. This creates a consistent, unified browsing experience across all detail pages.
├──🐛 Bug Fixes
Manufacturer Logo Upload Fixed
The "Upload" button on the manufacturer edit page now works correctly. Previously only the "Paste URL" option functioned - now you can upload logo images directly from your device.
├──🔒 Security & Stability
Enhanced Data Protection
We've strengthened how sensitive information is handled across the platform, ensuring your data stays properly secured with appropriate access controls.
Smarter AI Features
Both AI Auto-Extract and the AI Lighting Consultant now include an automatic fallback system. If the primary AI model is temporarily unavailable or experiencing issues, the system seamlessly switches to backup models - so your AI-powered searches and data extraction keep working without interruption.
Bug Fixes & Polish
Resolved various stability issues for a smoother browsing experience
Performance optimizations throughout the platform
Improved error handling for edge cases

See what's new at a glance
Click any fixture to jump to its details
Hover to pause the scroll and read
Shows fixture name, manufacturer, and how long ago it was added
├──🐛 Bug Fixes
Changelog Completeness
Fixed incomplete public changelog - v0.3.1.5 was previously published missing several major features including automatic badge awarding, contribution tracking refactor, pending requests display, and sort improvements. All versions now complete and consistent with the What's New modal.
Contributor Application Fixes
Fixed badge requirements: Now correctly states "10 total contributions (adds + reviews)" instead of the incorrect "10+ edits OR 5+ reviews"
Reduced console experience field minimum from 10 to 2 characters so applicants can enter "None" or short responses
Expansion Application Form
Added new application form for professionals wanting to contribute to future hubs (audio, video, rigging, backline). This is for future use when we expand beyond lighting.
├──✨ New Features for Editors
Editor Review Page with Inline Editing
Editors can now edit contributor submissions before approving them! This ensures the highest data quality while still giving contributors credit for their work.
Click "✏️ Edit Submission" on any pending submission in the editor dashboard
Form opens showing the contributor's submission with visual change indicators:
Yellow "📝" badge = Field changed by contributor
Green "✎" badge = Field corrected by editor during review
No badge = Field unchanged from database
Make corrections, add missing data, or refine the submission
Click "Approve & Publish" to save the polished version to the database
Contributors still get credit for the submission
This streamlines the review workflow and helps maintain consistent, high-quality data across the platform.

├──🧠 AI Lighting Consultant - Your Personal Fixture Expert
Natural Language Search
The search modal (Cmd+K / Ctrl+K) now includes an AI Consultant mode powered by Claude. Instead of typing keywords, describe what you need in plain English:
_"Find me a bright outdoor wash for festivals under 20kg"_
_"Quiet spot fixture for broadcast with high CRI"_
_"Something like a MAC Aura but with framing shutters"_
_"Best LED profile for touring theatre"_
The AI interprets your needs, applies intelligent filters, and returns matching fixtures with reasoning explaining why each result fits your criteria.
Smart Filtering
The AI understands lighting terminology and applies the right database filters:
"Outdoor" or "festival" → IP65+ rated fixtures
"Broadcast" or "film" → High CRI (90+), flicker-free
"Quiet" or "silent" → Sorts by noise level
"Bright" → Sorts by lumen output
"Lightweight" or "portable" → Sorts by weight
External Price Lookup
Ask about pricing and the AI will fetch current retail prices from B&H Photo:
_"What does a MAC Aura XB cost?"_
_"Price for Robe ESPRITE?"_
Prices include a disclaimer noting that pro dealers typically offer better rates than retail.
How to Access
1. Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows)
2. Click the AI Consultant tab
3. Type your question and press Enter
4. Browse results and click to view fixture details
Each AI query costs ~$0.01-0.02 in API fees, which RiderReady covers for you.
Rotating Example Queries
The AI Consultant shows 5 example queries from a pool of 30 suggestions. Examples refresh each time you open the AI tab, giving you fresh ideas for what to ask.
├──📊 Compare Page Overhaul
Visual Rating Bars
The compare page now displays user ratings with visual progress bars instead of just numbers. Each bar is color-coded to match the Performance DNA system:
Green for excellent scores (8+)
Accent yellow for good scores (5-7.9)
Red for scores needing attention (<5)
Export Your Comparisons
Three new export options make it easy to share and save comparisons:
Share Link - Copy a URL that anyone can open to see the same comparison
CSV Export - Download data as a spreadsheet for further analysis
Print/PDF - Clean, optimized print layout for saving or printing
All implemented using native browser features to keep the app fast and lightweight.
Equal-Width Columns
Fixture columns are now equal width regardless of how many you're comparing, with rating bars stretching to fill the available space for better visual comparison.
Fixed Rating Scale
Ratings now correctly display on a 1-10 scale (matching the review system) instead of incorrectly showing as 1-5.
├──🎨 UI Polish & Quality of Life
Recently Rated Fixtures on Homepage
The homepage now features a "Recently Rated" section showing fixtures that have received performance reviews. Each card displays category ratings (Build, Control, Output, Color, Effects, Movement) with compact bar charts, making it easy to discover what the community is reviewing.
Redesigned Manufacturer Pages
Manufacturer pages have been completely redesigned with a modern, gamer-tech aesthetic:
Hero card layout with logo, name, country, and key stats
Prominent "Browse All Fixtures" button that takes you to a filtered fixtures view
Featured fixtures grid showing up to 8 of their products
Clean single-page experience (no more tabs)
Improved Navigation
Clicking on manufacturer names now takes you where you'd expect:
On fixture cards: filters the fixtures page by that manufacturer
On fixture detail pages: goes to the manufacturer's page
Makes browsing by manufacturer much more intuitive
Favorites Filter
Logged-in users can now filter the fixtures page to show only their favorited fixtures. Look for the heart icon in the Basic Properties filter section.
Better Browser Tab Titles
Browser tabs now show meaningful names instead of just "RiderReady":
Fixture pages show the fixture and manufacturer name
Manufacturer pages show the company name
Compare page shows how many fixtures you're comparing
Contribution Tracking for Editors & Admins
Editors and admins now receive contribution credit when they directly add or edit fixtures and manufacturers.
Updated AI Indicator Colors
AI data source indicators updated from purple to warm orange for better visual distinction.
Improved Homepage Pools
Database pools on the homepage now flow more naturally on different screen sizes.

├──🗄️ GDTF Database Expansion
Comprehensive GDTF Schema
We've added 70+ new database tables to support the complete GDTF 1.2 specification. This lays the groundwork for advanced features:
Full DMX personality storage with channel functions and value ranges
Complete wheel definitions (color wheels, gobo wheels, prisms, animation wheels)
Physical properties including spectral data, CRI measurements (R1-R15), and TM-30 metrics
3D geometry hierarchy for fixture visualization
Protocol support (RDM, Art-Net, sACN, PosiStageNet, OSC)
Helper functions for comparing fixtures by GDTF capabilities
This infrastructure prepares RiderReady for deeper GDTF integration in future releases.
Mobile Experience
Removed the mobile landing popup - the app is now fully responsive on all devices.
├──🤖 AI Auto-Extract Gets Smarter
Cost-Optimized Extraction
AI Auto-Extract is now significantly cheaper to use! When you import a GDTF file first (which is free), the AI only extracts the remaining empty fields instead of all 40+ fields. This reduces API costs by 50-70% per extraction.
The Pro Tip box on the add/edit fixture form now prominently displays this cost-saving strategy.
40+ Fields Now Extracted from Product Pages
The AI Auto-Extract feature has been massively upgraded! When you paste a manufacturer's product URL, Claude now extracts far more data:
Basic Info - Name, model number, SKU, year introduced
Classification - Fixture family and class (Moving Head Spot, LED Wash, Profile, etc.)
Physical - Weight, IP rating, rigging type, full dimensions
Light Source - LED type, color temperature ranges, CRI, TM-30 Rf, lumens
Optics - Beam and field angles (min/max)
Color System - Color mixing type, color wheel slots, CTB/CTO
Effects - Gobos, animation wheel, prism, frost, iris, framing shutters, zoom
Movement - Pan/tilt degrees, continuous rotation
Control - DMX channels, modes, wireless DMX, RDM
Special Features - Noise level, fan modes, battery, flicker-free, PWM
This means less manual data entry when adding new fixtures!
├──📦 GDTF Parser Overhauled
Major Accuracy Improvements
The GDTF importer has been completely rewritten for proper specification compliance. Previously, many fixtures imported with missing or incorrect data. Now:
Weight & Dimensions - Properly reads from correct XML elements and calculates bounding boxes from geometry
Beam Angles - Correctly extracts min/max zoom ranges from BeamType definitions
Pan/Tilt Range - Reads actual rotation limits from channel functions
Power Draw - Extracts wattage and voltage from WiringObject definitions
DMX Channels - Fixed channel counting across all modes
CRI from Spectral Data - Calculates color rendering metrics from emitter spectral power distribution (when available in GDTF)
Framing Shutters - Better detection of blade/shutter features
Thumbnail Images - Fixed extraction of embedded fixture images
Thanks to community contributor @eia485 for this massive improvement!
├──📊 Redesigned Fixture Specifications
Consolidated Specs Tab
The fixture specifications tab has been completely reorganized for better readability:
5 Sections Instead of 10 - Related specs grouped together logically
Output & Color (lumens, CRI, CCT, color mixing)
Optics & Effects (beam, zoom, gobos, frost, prism)
Movement (pan/tilt for automated fixtures)
Power & Physical (wattage, weight, dimensions, IP rating)
Control (DMX, protocols, special features)
Hero Specs at a Glance - Key specifications prominently displayed at the top of each section
Cleaner Layout - Missing data shows "—" instead of cluttering with "N/A"
├──⭐ Review Rating Fixes
Skipped Ratings No Longer Hurt Fixtures
When you skip a rating dimension (haven't experienced that feature), it now properly excludes from the average instead of counting as zero:
Unrated dimensions show "Not Rated" with "N/A" instead of 0
Overall scores only calculate from dimensions you actually rated
Radar chart only plots rated dimensions
Fixes issue where opting out accidentally lowered fixture scores
├──🐛 Bug Fixes
AI Extract Crash Fixed - The "Cannot read properties of undefined" error when using AI Auto-Extract is now resolved
N/A Badges Removed - Fixture cards no longer show spurious "N/A" badges where IP rating should be
Better Error Messages - Console errors now show actual details instead of empty objects
Editor Review Improved - Pending edits now show a clear diff of what changed instead of raw JSON
Duplicate Detection - Editors now see warnings when new submissions may be duplicates of existing entries
Contribution Tracking - Your submission counts now properly update on your profile page
GDTF File Saved - Imported GDTF files are now uploaded to storage, making the "Download GDTF" button work
├──🔧 Dynamic Filters
IP Rating Filter Now Database-Driven
The IP Rating dropdown on the fixtures page now pulls directly from the database instead of showing hardcoded options. If a fixture has an unusual IP rating, it will automatically appear in the filter.

├──🐛 Bug Fixes
Contributors Can Now Edit Fixtures!
Fixed a critical issue where contributors were unable to submit fixture edits for review. Previously, contributors would encounter an error when trying to submit changes. This has been completely resolved - contributors can now freely submit their fixture edits and they'll go into the review queue for editors to approve!

├──❄️ Winter Wonderland Mode
Get into the holiday spirit! We've added a beautiful winter theme with falling snow and an aurora borealis-style animated background. Don't worry about performance - click the new ❄️ Let it Snow! button in the toolbar to toggle the effects on or off. Your preference is saved so you can enjoy the festive vibes across all pages or turn it off for maximum speed.
The snow features realistic physics with varying sizes, gentle rotation, and natural drift - it looks amazing on the homepage, fixture browser, manufacturer pages, and vendor catalog!
├──🏠 Homepage Makeover
We've completely redesigned the homepage to better showcase what RiderReady is all about:
Community Stats - See live counts of total users, verified professionals, and active contributors
Database Metrics - Track our growing collection of fixtures, manufacturers, and vendors
Quick Actions - Fast access to add fixtures, browse the catalog, apply as a contributor, or check what's new
Clean Console Theme - Everything styled in our signature terminal aesthetic with monospace fonts and clean layouts
├──📊 Live Community Statistics
The homepage now displays real-time stats showing how many users have joined, how many are verified professionals, and how many are active contributors. Watch the numbers count up as the page loads!
├──⚡ Performance Improvements
We've optimized the winter effects for all devices:
Reduced snow particles from 100 to 60 for smoother animation
Cut background blur in half for better GPU performance
Uses hardware acceleration for butter-smooth snow physics
Smart theming that only loads effects when you want them
├──🎨 Better Dark Mode
When you toggle off the winter effects, the background switches to pure black (#000000) for a sleek, minimal look that saves battery on OLED screens.

Submit 5+ reviews and earn the prestigious Founding Contributor badge! Previously only available to contributors who submitted 10+ fixture edits, the badge is now accessible to anyone who shares their professional experience through reviews.
